The 0.2 µm membrane layer ensures the sterility of your product, but the prefilter porosity is what makes the difference. Depending on specific product characteristics, a finer or coarser prefilter layer can significantly improve the filter’s capacity. Semi-particulate-free liquids such as buffer solutions can be filtered without any prefilter layer to improve flow performance.

0.1 µm Mycoplasma Retentive Filters Sartopore®2 XLM
Pore size: 0.2 | 0.1 µm (heterogeneous PES double layer)
It is well known that mycoplasma may be present in commercially available cell culture media. Since mycoplasma can penetrate 0.2 µm rated sterilizing filters, the industry has developed finer filter membranes (0.1 µm) specifically for successful mycoplasma retention.
The highly asymmetric structure provides an excellent match between the 0.2 µm prefilter layer and the 0.1 µm final membrane, delivering an unmatched combination of maximum safety and highest filtration capacity. Sartopore® 2 XLM is the most powerful filter on the market and is fully validated both as a sterilizing-grade filter (according to ASTM…) and for mycoplasma removal.

0.45 µm Bioburden Reduction Filters

Sartopore®2 0.45 µm rated filter cartridges are designed for bioburden reduction and particle removal from a wide range of pharmaceutical products. They provide extremely high flow rates and throughput, making them ideal for membrane prefiltration of aqueous solutions and highly viscous, difficult-to-filter pharmaceutical products.
