MD8 Airscan
MD8 Airscan®, together with gelatin membrane filters, not only enables the collection of airborne microorganisms but also allows the capture of the smallest particles, such as viruses.
Air sampler for critical applications
The system consists of the MD8 Airscan® air sampler and disposable gelatin filter units. It is routinely used for the quantitative detection of airborne organisms, mainly in Grade A and B areas, according to the classification of the “EU Guide to GMP,” as well as in isolators or blow-fill-seal machines.
The very high air flow rate of 8 m³/h enables isokinetic sampling at the usual flow velocity in laminar flow, as well as very rapid filtration of 1 m³ of air in less than 8 minutes. The filter unit can be positioned away from the air sampler.
The MD8 Airscan® air sampler enables selective and easy adjustment of the air flow rate and sampling speed. Using a specially developed calibration unit, see accessories, the user can calibrate the MD8 Airscan® locally, for example as part of validation steps.
After sample collection, the gelatin filter can be placed directly onto an agar culture medium for incubation and colony growth.
- Accurate results and verifiable storage
- Compliance with regulations such as EU-GMP
- Isokinetic sampling in laminar flow areas, with no turbulence formation
- Can be calibrated on site
- Suitable for use in Grade A/B cleanrooms, BFS machines, and isolators, since the pump can be positioned outside the critical working area
- The lowest bacterial counts can be measured thanks to the short sampling time for 1 m³ of air
